It wasn't always so easy to get away from Batman in the dirty city called Gotham, the man knew every turn of the street and every twist in the alley. Studying the paths and following them every night were part of the whole 'Dark Knight' act, Selina knew, but it didn't stop her from dodging in and out of every alley and back road to try and get away from him.

Hell, there were some times, like now, when she has to quickly stash her jewels and come back during the day so she could get away without having to worry about dropping her precious cargo in the dog and cat chase.

The sidewalks were busy this morning due to the Christmas holiday coming up and though she had a high tolerance to the cold she still mimicked the the other people and wrapped her coat around her tighter and gave an old woman a smile. The little woman smiled back and made a comment on the weather but was soon on her way trying to rush to the bus stop a block away.

As soon as the woman made it to her spot with no problems Selina ducked into the alley and dropped her hands so she could rummage through the thrown out crates. "Come on. I know I put it here." She whispered, her breath coming out in little puffs of fog. Behind her there was a shuffle and she ignored it thinking that it was just one of the many cats that occupied the alley.

The more she dug the more the shuffling got louder and when she turned to look there was nothing there. With a confused, and slightly creeped out, she pursed her lips and turned back around only let out a loud shriek. There staring up at her were two bright blue eyes above reddened cheeks and nose.

The child, who looked like he couldn't be any older than 5 held the bag out to her. He looked starved and the clothes he wore were torn and dirty. Her heart dropped a little and she reached out for the bag so she could get it out of her view of him.

"I find it." He spoke with a hoarse voice. Selina frowned slightly and got down on her knees in front of him to pick him up so his reddened and swollen feet could rest away from the freezing ground.

"How long have you been out here, Little Stray?" She held him to her chest in a motherly way and the child began crying. It mustn't have been more than a few months if he was still this much in need of a warm touch.

"Shhh. It's all right, Stray Kitten. I'll take you home with me. I'll take care of you." She pushed herself up so that she could wrap the scared and crying child into her woolen coat. As soon as he was warm and comfortable in her arms she made her way to the way she had come. The meowing behind her made her remember what she had come to get and she turned and swooped it up with a little click to the cat in thanks.

"What's your name, Stray Kitten? Hm?" She whispered into his ear as she nuzzled into his dirty hair. The crowd soon swallowed them up and Selina couldn't help but smile at how she probably looked like a mother taking her son to see the decorations for the joyous holiday.

Yes this kitten was a keeper, she could already tell by the way his eyes followed the glass orbs and golden tinsel that adorned the shop windows on their path home.

I was requested to write Tim as 'Stray/Catlad/Kitten' so I did the beginning of it!

I was actually thinking of writing more but everyone seems to like this as is and I don't want to ruin it if so.

This reads really well, and it makes a nice origin story for Catlad. My heart goes out to little Timmy.
